Vintage Jay
When it comes to Austin, TX rap isn’t something that too many people are aware is very prevalent there. Those that are aware mainly know of artists residing from the South and East sides of the city. Well now a prominent voice from the Live Music Capital’s North end of town has risen up.
Vintage Jay hailing from off Rundberg Ln in Austin’s gritty, very culturally diverse Northside. Austin based rapper has risen up to speak for a section of Austin that has rarely had a voice. Blending tales from the streets with very poignant bars of consciousness and social reform. Jay is no fluke at rapping and gives a more introspective look into who Jay is as person from the streets, personal life, and speaking for his people and community. In 2021 Jay was featured on KUTX 98.9 The Breaks’ annual Summer Jam show, as well as being featured on stage presented by the Austin music nonprofit, Black Fret & Sonic Guild. Jay has been a true pillard to Austin, Vintage Jay was featured on KUTX September Artist of the month. Making him an official NPR Session artist. The city of Austin also gave Jay his official proclamation date September 12th.
