Steam Down

STEAM DOWN is a British Afro-punk band, weekly event, and music community based in London, England. They've mastered the art of enriching human experience through music, creating finely tuned alchemy of sound, space, and energy.

Founded in 2017 by multi-instrumentalist Ahnansé, the initial event connected London musicians and producers. It's evolved into a weekly gathering where Steam Down artists and their extended musical family generate spontaneous sonic soundscapes reflecting their city life. Steam Down has quickly become a London music scene staple, winning two Jazz FM Awards and featuring in a Sky News documentary. They've sold out venues like Jazz Café and brought their eclectic energy and sound to audiences in the US, Australia, Europe and South America, and performed at prestigious festivals like Glastonbury and Montreux Jazz.

Their collaborative approach has led to work with artists like Sampa the Great, Nubya Garcia and more. Their debut single 'Free My Skin' has garnered over 1.8 million streams, and their follow-up 'Etcetera has been featured in FIFA21 and the Paramount+ romcom 'Flatshare'. Steam Down is currently gearing towards their debut album release in 2025.
