Big Phony
2023 Rolling Stone Magazine:
“Born and raised in New York City, Bobby Choy (Big Phony) found himself pursuing his passion for music after his family's relocation to Los Angeles when he was 14. Left behind in New York City to attend the renowned School of Performing Arts and Music and Art, Big Phony honed his craft while living independently in his city apartment.
In the late 90s, driven by strong religious beliefs, Big Phony ventured to Boston to study to become a pastor at a Christian college. However, he soon realized this wasn't his calling and redirected his focus back to his music. Following college, he embarked on his journey as a singer-songwriter, swiftly amassing a dedicated fan base through his compelling songs and performances.
In 2011, Big Phony made the bold move to South Korea, the country his parents originally hailed from. There, he found himself building an unexpected connection with the culture he came to cherish and identify with. He has graced the stages of over 50 live venues in Korea and has made appearances on Korean TV and radio. Notably, he also contributed his musical talents to artists like Andrea Bocelli and the Korean punk rock legends, No Brain."
