The Evolution of a Genre: Is the US Still the Home of R&B?

Date TBA

Since its origin in the U.S. during the mid-1940s, R&B has evolved as a genre through its many iterations, expanding beyond its American roots to cultivate an international audience. In an era where music transcends borders and cultures, a pivotal question arises: Is the U.S. the only fertile ground for R&B success, or can artists thrive beyond its borders, particularly in the UK? This panel will examine the evolution of R&B, cultural influences, market dynamics, the impact of media and technology in shaping artists' careers, and whether the future of R&B lies in its globalization as well as the role the UK could play in this transformation.
