Facing Death Without Fear: Psychedelics for End-of-Life Care
Psychedelic-assisted therapy has shown promise in improving psychological, existential, and spiritual outcomes in patients with serious illnesses, but questions remain around integration into existing interdisciplinary models. In this presentation, psychedelic researchers Sue Sisley, MD, and Katherine MacLean, PhD, will review research on psychedelics in hospice and palliative care, discuss the benefits and challenges of psychedelic-assisted therapies in different settings (hospital, residential hospice, and home), and present preliminary findings from Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy in Hospice Care (PATH).
Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
