To address climate change, we need strategies that work across the entire energy economy, transforming how energy is made and used. DOE’s Energy Earthshots Initiative sets goals in crucial next-generation clean energy technology areas—hydrogen, long duration energy storage, carbon dioxide removal, floating offshore wind, enhanced geothermal, industrial heat, clean fuels and products, and affordable home energy. When achieved, these targets will support the private sector launch of new clean energy industries, create good-paying jobs, lower energy costs for families across the country, and avoid billions of tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
