Girl and Girl at Parish
Garage rock four piece Girl and Girl have just announced their debut album with Sub Pop, ‘Call A Doctor’ (out 24 May). Lead single ‘Hello’ is already stoking excitement — “[it] isn’t just another track; it’s a sonic explosion that demands attention” (Forte Mag) and “trembles and blisters with a Talking Heads/The Strokes New York sense of urgency” (Backseat Mafia).
Frontman Kai James, drummer Melissa ‘Aunty Liss’ James, and bandmates Jayden Williams and Fraser Bell have been turning heads at home and overseas over the last 12 months, winning devoted fans with their electrifying live show. After winning the Gold Coast Music Prize, the band became one of the hottest buzz acts of Bigsound 2022 and SXSW Sydney, signing with ATC Live (UK/EU), Arrival (US), a worldwide deal with Sub Pop. They made their international debut at The Great Escape 2023 and were quickly invited back to Europe for appearances at Pitchfork Paris, Rolling Stone Beach and a packed main room at London Calling, which in turn led to offers for Eurokennees, End of the Road and more in 2024.
Following their SXSW debut, Girl and Girl will return the the US in May for a 20-date national tour supporting Royel Otis.
