Takara was born and raised in Adelaide, Australia and started recording covers on Garage Band as a hobby when she was just ten years old. At age 13 she began making beats in her bedroom, eventually forming a rap group with other local kids. In 2017, after a lifetime of not seeing herself represented in the Australian music industry, she packed up and took a huge leap of faith all the way to Chicago. By 2020, the now LA-based Takara had gained a cult-like following after reaching #1 on Australia's Triple J Unearthed with her song "Take Me Home" and earned further buzz in 2021 following a healthy release of singles including her hit "Off My Mind" featuring an international collaboration and landing her back at #3 on Triple J Unearthed. In 2022, she broadened her fan base with her viral song "Strawberry Cake."
