Meetu Chilana at Speakeasy
Meetu Chilana is a New York City based singer/songwriter, filmmaker, theater-trained actress and voice-over artist who effortlessly weaves her traditional Sikh Punjabi and American upbringing into her work. As a singer/songwriter, jazz and North Indian folk sensibilities permeate her vocals and writing. She is currently recording her upcoming 4th release. A veteran of the stage, Meetu was the lead vocalist in two Cirque du Soleil shows (ZARKANA, KOOZA) which performed at Radio City Music Hall, the State Kremlin Palace, and toured North America. She was recently seen in Mira Nair's musical adaptation of Monsoon Wedding, which premiered at Berkeley Rep Theater and debuted in New York last spring. Her voice-over work can be heard on commercials (Google, Chipotle) or narrating numerous books on Audible. As a filmmaker she is Co-Producer/Music Consultant on the HBO MAX feature film Land of Gold (Tribeca 2022, AT&T Untold Stories Award ‘21), Music Supervisor of Love Taps (EP Spike Lee), and Associate Producer on Ira Sachs’ Little Men (Sundance 2016). Meetu received her BFA in Drama & Producing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
