Malik Baptiste
Baptiste came up at the junction of culture and life in Austin, Texas. The award-winning artist sports an impressive resumé, including features alongside Dreamville artists Earthgang, JID, Saba, and a Grammy win for his work on Ariana Grande’s Sweetener. Baptiste’s focused intently on music production and finishing his voice as a musical artist, knowing that this would be his door into making art with a cultural impact. Entirely self-taught, Baptiste takes influence from the convergence of classics like Elton John, to hip-hop icons Outkast, to the indie legend Bon Iver. The result is Baptiste’s signature punchy drum patterns, whimsical loops, and genre-bending sounds - all written, recorded, and mixed in house. In 2018, Baptiste was discovered by decorated producer No ID (ye, Rihanna, Drake) and signed to ID’s ARTium Recordings. Baptiste put out his debut EP “spectrum,” a collection of demos showing the full gamut of Baptiste’s eclectic sound, and setting the stage for his first album, “PEDALS / PETALS.” PEDALS / PETALS is the story we all want of a dreamer bracing the ups and downs of stardom, relentlessly chasing greatness in their craft.
