Johnny Jewel is an American record producer, composer, photographer, and visual
artist. He is a multi-instrumentalist widely known for combining the sounds of analog
synthesizers with electro acoustic instruments. He has been recording and releasing
records since the mid-1990s. For the last twenty years, Jewel has owned and operated
his own independent record label, producing and releasing dozens of albums, including
a number of critically acclaimed pop records from acts such as Glass Candy,
Chromatics, and Desire.
As a composer, Jewel is known for his work with Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn
on the films Bronson (2008) and Drive Soundtrack (2011), and the A&E crime drama
series Those Who Kill (2014). Jewel scored actor Ryan Gosling's 2015 directorial debut
,Lost River Original Motion Picture Score as well as Belgian director Fien Troch's 2016
film Home Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, for which he won the Georges Delerue
Award. Along with Chromatics (on screen), his various works soundtracked the David
Lynch television series Twin Peaks (Music from the Limited Event Series).
