Kierst at Las Perlas

Date TBA

In her hometown of Columbia, South Carolina, Kiersten Chow started playing shows in dive bars and local venues at the age of 16 while writing songs that would later be released under the shortened moniker, Kierst.

Now based in Brooklyn and backed by a full band, Kierst released debut EP, Thud, via UK indie label, Sad Club Records. The project found itself blending slowcore, indie folk, and lo-fi rock, earning praise from the likes of Rough Trade, The Line of Best Fit, So Young Magazine, and BBC Radio 6. Following the release, the band embarked on a tour of the UK last winter, sharing stages with acclaimed artists such as Kate Bollinger, Runnner, Lime Garden, and Mary in the Junkyard.

The 4-piece ensemble, featuring George Matsuo on lead guitar, Ian Horrocks on bass, and Sean Pantea on drums, have brought new life into these songs– originally known for their complex intimacy– by reinvigorating them live with a blistering urgency to be heard.
