Dani Gurgel & Debora Gurgel

Date TBA

Dani Gurgel’s scatting vocals are stitched along Debora Gurgel’s left hand piano grooves, putting jazz improvisation into Brazilian rhythms. Their music is dynamic and energetic, filled with the delight of their long-established musical intimacy combined with the serendipity of constant improvisation and interaction amongst themselves and with the audience, rendering always fresh and original concerts.
Dani Gurgel’s precise scat singing is a mix of the percussive and syncopated sounds of Brazil with the swaying curves of jazz: "A fantastic syllabary" (Badische Zeitung, Germany), and "scatted vocal adventures" (Jazzthetik). With her feet in Brazil and her body stretching throughout the world, Dani navigates with her rhythmic and syllabic Brasilities through jazz, rock, pop, electronica.
Debora Gurgel is a Brazilian pianist, flutist, composer, arranger and educator. She connects her strong Brazilian roots and improvisation into Brazilian contemporary music, and applies it to a variety of projects. Besides her own works, she also writes commissioned arrangements for Brazil’s main orchestras and big bands.
