Acantha Lang at Cooper's BBQ
New Orleans-born (London-based) rising Soul artist Acantha Lang has been compared to legends Aretha Franklin & Gladys Knight. 2023 saw her acclaimed debut album ‘Beautiful Dreams’ chart at #3 on The Official UK Jazz & Blues Albums Chart, garnering critical praise including covers with Blues & Soul and Echoes Magazines, plus Relix, American Songwriter, KCRW’s ‘Top Tune’ & more. Tastemaker Craig Charles (BBC 6Music’s Funk & Soul Show) notes that she's "brilliant…destined for world domination”.
Her album arrived after winning the ‘New Artist of the Year' award for the Soul Tracks Readers' Choice Awards & 'Blues Artist of the Year' presented by Jools Holland. In May, she made her US TV debut performing 3 tracks on CBS Saturday Morning. Accepted into the Recording Academy/GRAMMYs, they featured her moving version of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ in their ReImagined series.
Currently writing album 2 with further US & European touring to come, this GRAMMY-nominated songwriter has established a dedicated legion of fans with her 12m+ viewed "Standing On The Shoulders Of" soul series. Ending 2023 with spots on Spotify’s Best Retro Songs & Best Funk Songs playlists, the future looks bright.
