Curtis McMurtry

Mar 13, 2024

10:00pm – 10:40pm CT

Saxon Pub

Curtis McMurtry is a singer-songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist from Austin, TX. Influenced by Fiona Apple, Punch Brothers and Tom Waits, Curtis' songs combine sinister lyrics with sophisticated orchestration. His most recent release, Toothless Messiah (2021) is a dark and dystopian concept album that continues to garner critical acclaim. His next album, The Pollen & The Rot (releasing May 2024), is the first of four forthcoming albums inspired by seasons, and explores themes of restlessness, rebirth and revolution; every character is coiled like a spring, ready to burst, and ravenous for change.

For this showcase Curtis will perform as a chamber pop string quartet backed by Diana Burgess on cello, Kimberly Zielnicki on violin, and James Tabata on upright bass.
