The Eric Hisaw Band is a roots-rock trio based in Austin Texas. Combining deep roots in classic rural American music with the reckless abandon of 1960’s garage rock’n’roll, the band continues in the spirit of legendary Austin rockers like Joel Ely, the LeRois Brothers and Evan Johns. In late 2022 the band, featuring Hisaw on guitar and vocals, Ron McRae on bass and Shawn Peters on drums, released the LP Can’t Stop Time on Flak Records to critical praise and international radio play, garnering reviews and features in the Austin Chronicle, Songwriters Across Texas, Vintage Guitar Magazine and more.
The band was slowed down only slightly when Hisaw suffered a gunshot wound caused by a stray bullet from a drive by shooting in the southeast Austin home he shares with his wife and young daughter. The band took the stage at a local club a mere two days after the shooting and despite physical and financial challenges, have continued to play, write and record. A new single and accompanying video will be debuted the week of SXSW 2024, with a new album to follow later in the year.
