C.Diab at St David's Bethell Hall
Canadian bowed guitarist and multi-instrumentalist C. Diab creates soundscapes that evoke the spectacular wilderness of his childhood home in northern Vancouver Island.
Incorporating folk overtones and tape manipulations, Diab’s compositions have a quality that is rare and powerful, captured in swooping strokes with meditative grace. The Wire calls it "ambient music in the best sense - music for living, which can be both non-invasive and immersive…epic…totally fresh."
Having gained critical acclaim with the release of his debut album No Perfect Wave on London’s Injazero Records in 2016, Diab has subsequently released three albums Exit Rumination (2018), White Whale (2020) and In Love & Fracture (2021). Diab’s forthcoming LP on Tonal Union, Imerro, is perhaps his most ambitious yet - exploring new sonic realms and forms of instrumentation.
