The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) is a joint Intelligence Community-Department of Defense organization that develops, acquires, launches and operates America's overhead intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance architecture. It operates geospatial and signals intelligence satellites and associated communications systems and ground architecture to provide national decision makers, mission partners, intelligence analysts, and warfighters with critical data to protect national security.
