Touring can be a rewarding experience and important revenue stream for performing artists, but the demands of careers in live music can also contribute to mental health decline. Join the Music Industry Therapist Collective as we explain how to navigate the highs and lows of life on the road. This panel will combine lived experience, research findings and clinical expertise to present a model for healthy touring. We will explore what makes touring stressful, the impact of cumulative stress to the mind and body and why some people are more prone to suffering than others. Then we’ll present solutions - how to develop individual physical and psychological resilience. Speakers are: Tamsin Embleton (ex-booker/tour manager, therapist and author of Touring and Mental Health: the Music Industry Manual), Dr Arun-Castro (physician and roadie medic), Dr. Susan Raeburn (mental health in music researcher and clinical psychologist), and Ryan Dusick (founding member of Maroon 5 and psychotherapist).
