You may have heard about menstrual poverty, but how exactly do taboos around menstruation shape society and impact gender and socioeconomic inequalities? What’s the impact of this taboo on the lives of girls, women and people who menstruate?
All over the world, we witness the lack of access to menstrual products, decent bathrooms, basic sanitation and proper sexual education - in families, impoverished regions, indigenous communities and public policy. In order to break this cycle, we have to start at the root of the problem: the taboo.
