EarthGlow: An Astronaut’s Perspective
Astronaut Dr. Sian Proctor is a geoscientist, explorer, space artist and poet with a unique perspective to share about her time in space. Joined by futurist composer and storyteller, MaryLiz Bender, they will take the audience on an immersive––poetic, musical, and cinematic–– journey to space to gift them the astronaut's perspective.
"The Overview Effect" is a transformative experience during which astronauts see the reality of our beautiful, fragile planet. From that vantage point, there are no borders except the fragile atmosphere that protects all of life as we know it. In 1968, Apollo astronaut Bill Anders expressed the ineffable quality of this experience by claiming, “We should’ve sent poets…” Now, a poet has gone and returned to share her perspective with the rest of the world.
