Imagine typing, creating art, and operating a robotic arm – with just your thoughts. Long considered the stuff of science fiction, “telekinesis” is now real thanks to implantable brain computer interfaces (BCIs). Since 2004, only a few dozen people globally have been implanted with one – and on this panel, you will meet three of them. Hear their personal experiences undergoing invasive surgery and participating in mind-bending research. How does it feel to use a BCI? What are the possibilities for enabling new forms of communication, embodiment, and creativity? What has been the impact on their lives and loved ones — and should this technology be available to everyone?
