2 Degrees From Disaster
We are 2 degrees away from a humanitarian and hunger disaster. As the Earth’s temperatures rise, so too do global hunger rates. Today, 1 in 10 in people worldwide face severe hunger and our warming climate is putting millions more at risk every day. If average global temperatures rise by just 2°C, 189 million additional people will be at risk of hunger. Ironically, communities that contribute the least to the climate crisis are most affected. Extreme weather is threatening our food system, driving hunger, and pushing at-risk communities closer to the breaking point. But together, World Food Program USA is working with the United Nations World Food Programme and private partners to implement innovative climate solutions to enhance food systems and build food security.
