Gen Z women are claiming their political leadership and doing politics their way. The 2022 midterm election showed how young women, energized by the overturning of Roe v. Wade, mobilized and voted at higher rates than their male counterparts, playing a key role in the election results. From creating new platforms and re-thinking existing ones (like Snapchat and TikTok) they are strategizing, mobilizing and engaging with issues and helping democratize political and civic engagement. They are also focusing on issues like racial inequity and access to abortion, and moving away from party politics. This conversation reveals the innovative strategies shaping young women’s political leadership in America - online and on-the-ground.
