Digital Sedation: A New Alternative to Anesthesia

Date TBA

My patients often say "Just put me out doc, I don't want to know anything about it", but what if I replied " I wont put you out, but I can put you somewhere else".
The population is aging causing the risks of anesthesia on their heart, lungs and brains to rise; 12% of all of us will develop cognitive decline following anesthesia. The cost of care is vastly increased when complicated by the need for anesthesia.
In the early 1900's, when anesthesia was first developed, we lived in an analogue world. Now, in the 21st century, we have advanced digital technology that can immerse patients in a virtual world, to help them cope with unpleasant medical experiences.
Wide Awake VR aims to empower adults and children to avoid anesthesia, reducing cost, risk and increasing patient mindfulness.
