Disrupting the Game: IP & the Future of Franchise

Recording: Disrupting the Game: IP & the Future of Franchise, Date TBA

With video games harnessing some of the most successful IP, there’s no question they’re shaking up the franchise paradigm. As the world looks to what gaming will do next, the global market for mobile games is expected to reach $139 billion in 2026, growing from $20 billion in the United States alone, according to Global Industry Analysts (GIA). At a time when even players of casual mobile games (47%) are interested in having their favorite game turned into a TV show or movie, this panel will explore the increasing expectations to translate games beyond the traditional player experience into areas such as television, film and streaming. In particular, panelists will discuss the billion-dollar Plarium franchise RAID: Shadow Legends, one of the most popular mobile-first games in the RPG genre.
