Ticket pricing historically has been the target of consumer lawsuits and government probes into the concert industry. But outrage from the catastrophe in which overwhelming demand resulted in Taylor Swift fans being blocked from online purchasing of Ticketmaster’s presale tickets for her 2023 tour immediately prompted outcries for aggressive examination of technology uses in live events ticketing. Within days, Ticketmaster, the largest U.S. ticket-seller, was hit with a consumer class-action lawsuit alleging anti-competitive practices.
