Puerto Rico Independent Musicians and Artists (PRIMA) and SXSW Music Festival have partnered to present an official showcase highlighting an exciting and eclectic offering of independent music projects direct from Puerto Rico for a night of music that’s not to be missed!

El Laberinto del Coco is a dynamic Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba-fusion ensemble founded by visionary percussionist Hector ”Coco” Barez. This 13-piece band features some of the most exhilarating musicians from the island and explores the tradition of Puerto Rican Bomba, masterfully blending jazz chops, big band style, and rock influences.

Neysa Blay is an alternative music singer-songwriter with an irreverent attitude and a collection of rock-influenced songs. Blay made her debut in the Latin Indie world in 2018 with her melodic pop song “Ojos de Diamante” and represented Puerto Rico at the 2019 International Song Festival with her song “Ya no penes más.”

Piquete is an Afro-Puerto Rican roots musical project, founded by songwriter and percussionist Miosoti Alvarado. Fusing contemporary sounds of Caribbean and Brazilian music, neo soul and hip hop meet traditional instrumentation, this 8-piece group create a powerful, flavorful and cutting edge fusion. The band, established in 2018, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, calls its sound Neo Plena and Bomba Groove, demonstrating the versatility of Boricua urban music.

UnÁnima - Experimental artist and singer unÁnima is one of the most inspired and motivated new voices of the Puerto Rican electronic music scene. In 2018 she began collaborating with the composers and producers Héctor Mayoral and Manuel Mendoza Sánchez, who laid the foundations for a unique electronic sound inspired by the traditions of Puerto Rican music. In 2023, unÁnima scheduled to release two new singles: “Verte llegar” and “El cuarto de tu mente”, leading up to her first EP “Hunde” which will be released this June.
