2023 marks the label’s 10th anniversary and they’re celebrating by partnering with British Underground to put on a SXSW showcase at Sellers Underground in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday 14th March (8pm – 2am). The showcase will feature Speedy Wunderground artists, alongside bands from the legendary single series and friends of the label, including:

Expect a dystopian, lyrical and darkly intense set, inspired by the likes of Kraftwerk and Interpol.
The Lounge Society - fresh from supporting The Strokes, RIDE and headlining London’s Village Underground – the band’s anthemic and urgent debut album ‘Tired of Liberty’ was one of Rough Trade’s Top Ten Albums of 2022; (one of four Carey/Speedy alumni in the Top 10)lauded by The Independent as “strikingly fresh and authentic.”
Miss Tiny is the nascent collaboration between the musical forces of Benjamin Romans-Hopcroft (Warmduscher/Childhood) and producer/guitarist/Speedy boss Dan Carey. On February 22nd, Lauren Laverne will premier their debut single “The Sound” on BBC Radio 6, and they will be introducing themselves as a band in this very special SXSW set.
Warmduscher – Speedy alumni and now Bella Union mainstays bring their notoriously raucous riotous live act to Austin! “Scuzzy, dancey, disco punk rock straight out of a London dive bar” – The Guardian.
Been Stellar “Loaded with melodic shoegaze and towering dream-pop… [Been Stellar are] NYC’s brightest new guitar hopes” – NME. A band of friends channelling their own New York City and the sounds of growing up young.
Revival Season is an exciting new collaboration project featuring Columbus, GA rapper Brandon ‘Bez’ Evans and Jonah Swilley - founding member of Mattiel. Ultra-mellow hip-hop for a languid summer - released on Heavenly Recordings, who’s boss Jeff Barrett was originally responsible for helping Speedy Wunderground start their label! A family affair.
Speedy Wunderground also have a special studio project planned to mark their time in Austin: Dan Carey is bringing his infamous strobe and laser recording sessions to SXSW, where he will be on the look-out for four exciting new bands, who’ll each be invited to record a single at 512 Studios over the course of the festival – sending Speedy Wunderground home with a SXSW 2023 EP.
This will be the first of many 10-year celebrations for the label, including: a special box set release (details to be revealed), a showcase at The Great Escape Festival and a 10th Anniversary party at London’s Village Underground later in the year. Let the festivities begin."
