Keeled Scales was co-founded by two friends and musicians in Austin, Texas in 2014. We started with the goal of being a vinyl-only label, but within a couple years added cassette and CD releases.

In 2018 we released debut albums by Big Thief’s Buck Meek and Sun June, and in 2021 we released each act’s second album, alongside debuts from Katy Kirby and Renée Reed.

We’ve become a home for prolific Texas songwriter Will Johnson (of Centro-matic), and have taken on a reissue role for cult artists The Shivers and David Dondero.

We’re proud to work with Atlanta's dreamy indie-pop band Lunar Vacation and New York-by-way-Austin band Why Bonnie on their debut albums.

In 2022 we released our fourth Twain release, the gracefully understated double album Noon, as well as the debut from Texas rockers Good Looks and the second album from Chicago’s wildly inventive Tenci.

We’re a label focused on strong songwriting eager to share unique voices.
