BAD APPLE
Appolonia Chukwu (aka DJ BAD APPLE) is a Black Nigerian-American DJ, Songwriter, Scholar, Culture Creator and up and coming music producer based in Austin, Texas. Under the moniker DJ BAD APPLE, Appolonia has quickly become well known for the unique energy she brings to the stage as she simultaneously connects with diverse and eclectic crowds. BAD APPLE is a multi-genre DJ whose sets include genres like house, techno, Afro beats, hip hop, funk, disco and pop, among others. BAD APPLE has curated boundary breaking sets and events in clubs, private and community-led events, and museum spaces, including the Carver Museum, The Contemporary Musuem, South by Southwest (SXSW) and Cheer Up Charlies, with FORMULA 1, Stubbs Amphitheater and Fuel Fest being her biggest show to date. BAD APPLE, an artist who has written extensively about Black Women’s cultural production in the music space, considers her work as an artist and scholar as one and the same. Ultimately, Appolonia’s work as a multidimensional artist is done with the goal of providing connection and community for all.
