hnansé is a British-Caribbean multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and creative director of Steam Down. Born in London, England - Ahnansé began his career as a musician and performer whilst living between Grenada, Barbados and his hometown in London. Ahnansé founded Steam Down in 2017, and was created initially to connect London based musicians and producers. Since then, it has evolved into a weekly event where Steam Down artists and its extended musical family generate spontaneous sonic soundscapes musically conducted by Ahnansé, reflecting their lives in the city. In 2019, Ahnansé become the recipient of two Jazz FM awards for his work with Steam Down and won best live experience (for Steam Down performance with the acclaimed LA-based saxophonist Kamasi Washington) and for Innovation in Jazz.
The debut single by the Steam Down collective, ‘Free My Skin’ written and produced by Ahnansé, released under Decca, UMG, has garnered over 1.8 million streams, and featured in the official Adidas 2020 FIFA World Cup campaign.
