DJ Jester the Filipino Fist
Native Texan DJ Jester the Filipino Fist has been an official performer at SXSW many times and curated the closing party at the old Emo's for many years. Having toured as the DJ for cult rap group GRAND BUFFET and with acts like Kid Koala, MGMT, of Montreal, Joe Jack Talcum of the Dead Milkmen and even Third Eye Blind his sound is like Texas: hot, spicy, and eclectic. In 2020, Dolly Parton herself chose DJ Jester's version of the "Jolene Challenge" to be featured on a Netflix commercial to promote her film.
2022 was a banner year as Jester released an acclaimed split-mixtape with DJ Marz, MADE IN USA, which was his therapy for the state of the world. Imagine the Daily Show in mixtape form. Matt Sonzala from Pushermania.com said "It's the first mixtape in awhile that will make you THINK. So many levels of this one. It's both a deft cultural critique AND a jammin ass mix that goes in directions you would never expect." In 2022, Jester also achieved a childhood dream and performed a Weird Al Tribute Set for Weird Al (and cast and crew) at the USA premiere of WEIRD: THE AL YANKOVIC STORY in New York.
