The WRLDFMS Tony Willams
"All my life, I've been a storyteller," says Tony Williams, a five-time Grammy Award
winning artist whose career includes hip-hop hits, R&B records, and collaborations with Jay
Z, For King & Country, and Kanye West.
These days, Williams is telling his own story. Born in Oklahoma, he was raised by a family of singers and church pianists who filled the household with gospel, soul, funk, and golden-age pop music. After moving to Texas, he began singing with rock & roll bands in Dallas, merging his R&B roots with a harder, heavier sound. For Williams, it was all about building a bridge between different worlds. About discovering the new sounds that could be created once he threw the rulebook out the window. Inspired, he began creating solo material that
was every bit as diverse as his influences, laying the foundation for albums like his 2012
debut, King or the Fool - An Opera: Volume 1, and singles like 2022's collaborative "Black
Heart Emoji" (featuring Cure for Paranoia).
A soulful innovator whose music is rooted not only in the sounds of the present day, but also
the best parts of the past.
