La Marimba at Augustine
La Marimba, a kind of dawn that flows and sounds like a dream of awake, attentive and present beings. Caribbean singer and songwriter who fuses traditional rhythms from her island with global sounds.
The voice of La Marimba is an affirmation of independence, emancipation and feminine power. The güira, a Dominican percussion instrument that La Marimba plays with vigor and precision, sounds like the powerful force of a caribbean woman taking her place.
Her performance shows her both on fire and at the same time subtle, she connects with all audiences and plays by activating curiosity and quenching the thirst for fresh sounds.
In 2018, she released her first single "Agua Que Llegó", becoming one of the 50 most viral in the Dominican Republic on Spotify. In the same year, she made her first international tour, completing 10 shows between New York, Miami and Massachusetts.
Twice nominated for Soberano Awards (2019/2020) highest award for art and communication in the Dominican Republic, in the category of Alternative Music.
In March "22 she was the artist selected by COLDPLAY to open their concert at the Olympic Stadium in Sto. Dgo. part of the MUSIC OF THE SPHERES world tour.
