Ryan Pollie at Valhalla
To be in a room with Ryan Pollie is to be at the center of his attention, no matter how many people command it. This ability to connect with people is just one of his strengths as a songwriter, performer, and producer. Releasing his first studio album in 2014 with Forged Artifacts, he began his recording career under the moniker ‘Los Angeles Police Department’, pulling inspiration from artists like Jimi Hendrix Experience, CCR, and The Mothers of Invention. In 2017, Ryan linked with Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado for production assistance on his second self-titled record. While working on his first album under his own name, Ryan was diagnosed with cancer in 2018. He finished the record, released on ANTI-, while receiving chemotherapy. In 2021, he self-produced and released his fourth full-length LP, Stars—embarking into “Floydian psychedelic excursions”, as described by New Commute. He's currently working on his first foray into the musical theater, writing a full album to be staged with actors, dancers, and set pieces. He'll be producing and singing the piece to be filmed on the stage in Los Angeles in 2023. We will be bringing the one-man show version to SXSW and NYC before it debuts.
