Roots From The Clay at Flamingo Cantina
Based in Houston, Roots From The Clay is Texas’ fastest rising Roots Reggae band. Roots From The Clay was conceived in May 2017 by Jamaican duo: drummer, songwriter & producer Jermaine “Songo” Wilson and wife Dr. Aria A. Wilson. Jermaine is a graduate from Edna Manley College of Music in Jamaica and toured the world as the drummer for many well known Jamaican Reggae artists. Aria was previously a signed solo reggae artiste “Aria Morgan” with a full-length album "Fulltime Love" to her credit. Jermaine and Aria started the band and later with the support of bassist “King David” Lee, keyboardist Robert Lauder and guitarist Rey Gonzalez, they perform together as the band Roots From The Clay (RFTC).
RTFC’s ambition is to encourage people through positive music. Their music confronts real-world issues. Racial equality, poverty, and relationships are honestly examined through pulsing reggae beats. Roots From The Clay’s influences come from Jamaican Roots, Lovers Rock and Dancehall Reggae music from the ’70s through the 2000s. Their first album “No Struggle” was launched in November 2018 and was distributed by VPAL records.
