Dhruv Sangari and The National Sufi Ensemble
Reed Society for the Sacred Arts presents ”Dhruv Sangari and the National Sufi Ensemble.” Ustad Dhruv Sangari “Bilal Christy,” savant and maestro of qawwali, brings this 700 year transcendent music form to the world with the US based National Sufi Ensemble. The music grounded in traditional studied Sufi practice transports the listener to the third space of no space, a place beyond place and time where the listener can experience the Divine. Trained under the great late Ustad Miraj Ahmad Nizami, Ustad Iqbal Ahmad Khan, and Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and now a virtuoso in his own right has assembled this team of US based musicians to continue the living line of qawwals to bring mehfil-e-sama or the congregation of listening music meditation to the masses. His deep range and training in classical Indian music, qawwali, western jazz, rock and blues allows him to connect modern souls to primordial experiences where love truly heals and the Divine sounds flood sonic landscapes.
