Addy the Baddy (Host)
Addy The Baddy (formerly Addy the Crown) is a Brooklyn-based, Nigerian-American afro-soul artist, host, community organizer & fruit-snack enthusiast with an old soul & a child-like spirit.
Highly prone to wander, Addy the Baddy has embraced the challenge of exploring all the possibilities of her existence. After graduating from Harvard in 2013, she worked as a middle school teacher in one of the toughest neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Seeing the world through her students' eyes re-ignited her dream of becoming an artist. Since then, she's been able to use her music as a tool for personal self-discovery & as a way to awaken anyone that has ever given up on themselves. Her recent work unravels the process of how women of color learn to access self-love from invisible sources.
In 2020, she was selected as a SXSW Official Artist, yet due to the pandemic she was unable to perform. In 2022, Addy was selected as a SXSW Panel Picker Winner for her community work on “Artists Protecting Black Owned Spaces & Venues.” In 2023, Addy the Baddy was announced as a SCALE Music Fellowship recipient for a 10-month residency in artist development and entrepreneurship for Black women in music.
