Bitch is a longstanding queer icon, who makes what she describes as “poet pop,” fronted by her electric violin. Her latest and 9th studio album “Bitchcraft,” came out on Kill Rock Stars in 2022, and was picked by Yahoo Entertainment as the year’s best album. It’s heavy with synthesizers and has been described as Joni Mitchell set to a click track.

Bitch first achieved notoriety as one half of the queer folk duo Bitch and Animal. The band toured extensively with Ani DiFranco, and released two albums on her label. Bitch starred in John Cameron Mitchell’s (Hedwig and The Angry Inch) film “Shortbus,” which was re-released last year for streaming.

For “Bitchcraft” she collaborated with Anne Preven (Beyonce, Demi Lovato), the rapper God-des, Roma Baran (Laurie Anderson), Melissa York (Team Dresch) and Faith Soloway (Transparent). Joey Soloway (Transparent) directed the music video for “Easy Target.”

To release the album, Bitch wrote an autobiographical play that she took on a national tour. Beginning with a sold-out residency in her hometown Los Angeles, they went on to play over 60 shows across the US, including shows opening for the Indigo Girls and Ani Difranco.
