Chicago trio Lifeguard blend feedback, noisy guitar, loud drums, and melodic bass to create their own sound. Influenced by Television, Unwound, Tortoise, the spirit of the SST catalog, and the unlimited aspects of noise, they craft intricate songs that adapt the sounds of the 90’s underground into a contemporary mixture.

Lifeguard began with bassist Asher Case and drummer Isaac Lowenstein playing and writing music in early 2019. They met guitarist/vocalist Kai Slater a few months later when the two played a festival backing up Chicago band Horsegirl who played with Slater's band Dwaal Troupe. After the show, they began talking and invited Slater to collaborate, resulting in a collection of songs written and performed later that year under the name Lifeguard, which lead to the release of the In Silence EP in February 2020 and the Tin-Man single in March of the same year.

Their debut album Dive was released on October 2nd, 2020. Recorded at Electrical Audio in Chicago by Jeremy Lemos, the album finds the band splitting the difference between their early material and their newfound confidence since the release of their first EP.
