Schatzi
After reuniting late last year for the 20th Anniversary of their record Fifty Reasons To Explode, Schatzi returns to the hometown stage in East Austin.
Originating from Oklahoma in the early 90s, Schatzi recorded their first album, Joanie Loves Schatzi in 1998. In 2000, with funding from the members of fellow Austin band Dynamite Hack, they recorded the Death Of The Alphabet EP releasing it locally. Their song, Death Of The Alphabet, included back-up vocals by Adrianne Verhoeven of The Anniversary and would go on to be a staple on college radio. Mammoth Records stepped in to release Death Of The Alphabet followed by the 2002 full-length album, Fifty Reasons To Explode. The band went on to release the 2003 split EP with Motion City Soundtrack on Doghouse Records and another LP, Snow Is For Saving Hearts. The latter was released posthumously in 2012. Throughout their career they played and toured with the likes of The Get Up Kids, Motion City Soundtrack, Shiner, Superchunk, The Promise Ring, Hey Mercedes, Jimmy Eat World, At The Drive-In, Ultimate Fakebook, The Anniversary, Ozma, Minus The Bear, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Cadillac Blindside, among others.
