Painted Shield

Painted Shield combines the talents of guitarist Stone Gossard (Pearl Jam), folk-pop singer/songwriter Mason Jennings, drummer extraordinaire Matt Chamberlain, virtuoso R&B keyboardist Brittany Davis, and renowned guitarist Jeff Fielder. “I love making music, and I especially love collaborating with other musicians,” says Gossard. “For me personally, this collaboration started very innocently, so I was able to go into it without any expectations other than ‘I wonder what this could sound like?’ But that’s the fun part, when you experience the synchronicity of the people you’re involved with. A song can become like a painting or a piece of sculpture. Little by little, as you work on it, a song reveals itself and becomes what it is, and that’s what we have now.” Painted Shield was released on Gossard's newly reactivated Loosegroove label, which had famously released the debut Queens of the Stone Age album back in 1998. "I'm so inspired by working with such inspiring, creative people," says Jennings. "I've been releasing albums for nearly 25 years, but I haven't done anything like this before. It's very much an active project, too. We're halfway through 'Album Three' already."
