Public Trust in the Age of Disinformation
While facing a global pandemic another threat has emerged that is attacking the foundation of civil society. Disinformation and conspiracy theories are spreading rapidly and eroding public trust in civic institutions globally, nationally, and even locally. Officials and experts are struggling to maintain the public’s faith and confidence in the face of the constant threats from social media, foreign actors, self-proclaimed experts, and even other elected officials. Hear from mayors and national leaders on how they are dealing with the constant onslaught of misinformation. They will share how they are embarking on the effort to maintain and rebuild the public’s trust and fortify the pillars of society in the face of this insidious threat.
