Understanding the resilience divide, the vast differences in how different groups within the same community experience a disaster is more important than ever as climate change intensifies. Low-income communities suffer more extended downtime in a hazard and cannot recover as quickly from a disaster, exacerbating already present socioeconomic disparities and endangering lives and livelihoods. This session will present a case study and discuss the factors contributing to this climate resilience gap across the country and the actions, resources, and tools necessary to close a widening resilience divide.
