We are in the midst of a mental health pandemic. Despite technological advances, depression and suicidality plague Western culture. The entwined disciplines of psychedelic neuroscience and psychedelic assisted therapeutics offer so much, yet little is known about the process. In my own unique ketamine centered practice, I have witnessed dramatic responses, especially in suicidal ideation. It appears that the potency of the therapy is dependent not only on the intention of the provider and open mindedness of the patient, but also, an unexpected process: a consciousness within the medicine itself. With acknowledgment by physician and patient, the drug becomes the transcendent function and facilitates a healing "field". Quantum mechanics/complex theory support this: consciousness is vital.
