A National Movement To Address The Opioid Crisis
Every day, 130 Americans die from an opioid overdose — the fallout from an epidemic that is gaining speed rather than abating. Reversing this crisis requires a multi-pronged, collaborative response to better prevent, treat, and manage addiction, especially for the nation’s most vulnerable. The the co-leads of the Working Group on Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Services, part of the National Academy of Medicine’s Action Collaborative on Countering the U.S. Opioid Epidemic, will assemble a panel to discuss the most promising opportunities in prevention, treatment, and recovery, including: how to provide a sustainable continuum of care for opioid use disorder; and how an integrated systems approach to prevention, treatment, and recovery can support better outcomes for all.
