Disability: Creating Safe Communities for Women

Women with disabilities in Mexico and Latam are one of the most discriminated groups and we are 10x more likely to experience gender-based violence. We will explore the impact of creating digital communities as safe places, designed for women who are part of historically discriminated groups in order to find our voices in the power of collective stories. We will talk about how Latinx disabled women organizations like Mexicanas con Discapacidad and Trazando lo invisible are giving women a platform to create networks where we could share our own stories and connect with other women to promote our leadership and recognize ourselves as a collective force. We will explore how this networking became a social and political movement with deep impact in a country in development like Mexico.
