Latina women make up one-fifth of the population in Texas, yet in Hollywood the ratio of white male directors to Hispanic female or Latina directors is 200 to 1. Tejanas in Film is a collective of Latina creators working in all areas of film, television and multimedia in the Lone Star State and beyond. From emerging short fiction filmmakers to Emmy-nominated documentarians, this group has been fostering community and advocating for Latinx representation since 2017. Join Tejanas in Film to network with Tejanas who are producing work and making change in the film industry and learn about the unique circumstances they are facing. Open to allies, this meetup is meant to create dialogue and connection between this systemically excluded community and the industry at large.
