Floating Cities: Combating a Global Housing Crisis

In the next decades, climate change, rising sea levels, and rapid population growth will converge to displace an estimated 1.5 billion people by 2050, creating an unprecedented global housing and humanitarian emergency. The imperative to rethink and radically re-imagine human habitation has never been more urgent than it is now. In partnership with UN Habitat, OCEANIX is developing a solution: the world’s first real-world prototype for scalable and sustainable floating cities. In this panel, Aria Bendix will speak to Henry Elkus, founder and CEO of Helena, OCEANIX co-founder Marc Collins Chen, and Alana Goldwelt about the future of cities, creating equitable and sustainable solutions to global challenges, and setting ethical precedents for the development of our oceans.
